Lughnasadh
The Shining Month: Harvest, Hope and Honor
This month opens the gates to the water season with the festival of Lughnasadh, dedicated to the Celtic God Lugh. It is traditionally a month of games, a time to show mastery and engage in good-spirited competition during the first harvest. This is the time to enjoy the fruits of your labors over the year. The sun’s light is beginning to wane, and we look toward the dark half of the year with optimism and strength.
Abundant Harvest
The harvest season begins this months and that paired with the reigning water element creates a juicy, magical time of prosperity, celebration, connection, mystical dreams and budding intuition. It is a profound threshold and a beautiful time of year when the golden Leo summer Sun gives way to the ever shorter days Autumn, the air begins to turn crisp and all of Gaia’s creatures make plans to make it through the winter months.
As we prepare our hearths and homes for the inward times, our recipe this month connects us with the cleansing medicine of mugwort.
Take a journey into the heart of Lughnasadh.
High Priestess Tiffany Grimm guides us on a journey into the heart of the season, as we confront mastery and harvest the fruits of our labors.
To prepare for this 20-minute meditation, sit or lie comfortably near your altar or in a private space outside. Bring a candle if possible, and have your pen and journal ready to record insights after.
