Welcome to the month of transition from air to fire.

We are still in the fullness of Air, but this wild, intangible element is starting to burn hotter and is offering breath into the sacred flame of the fire season, which officially begins around Beltane next month.

This is the final month of a gentle spring in the Northern hemisphere that begins to usher in a full-force summer. After Ostara, we entered into the brightest quarter of the year, where we are called to work and our energy is on the surface. We are strong, we are powerful, and things are moving very quickly.

Our mental bodies are alert, our lungs are filling and active, and our physical bodies are calling us to spend more and more time outside as well to enjoy the mild weather and the bright and growing sunlight. We absorb the gifts of the season, honor the mental body and the youth/maiden, and bow to the elements in gratitude.

Air rules our mental bodies, which organize and resource us in the great powers of vision, thought, language, and connection. At its core, Air is about communication. Everything in existence is in a state of vibration. Air vibrates at a pace that is fast and fluxes quickly. It is an agent of inspiration and change. Air is primarily present in exchanges of energy with other creatures, when we give and take across boundaries. In support of our mental bodies, our herbs this month are Chickweed and Lavender.
