Foundations of Magick: Litha
Welcome to the month of light, luminosity, and letting go.
We have arrived at the height of the fire season, and it is a high energy, outwardly focused time. This is the peak of Gaia’s great inhale, and she is full in so many ways. At the same time, this month reminds us to embrace paradox, because the peak of the light is also the beginning of the descent into darkness. The only certainty is change.
The Litha Call Structure:
Welcome; Grounding; Fire: Lover/Warrior/Queen/King; Holy Day: Litha (Summer Solstice); Herb: Basil and Tincture Recipe; Tree: The Oak Tree; Closing Blessing
Feel the dance of light and dark.
“The Summer Solstice is a fire festival that celebrates all that we have in our lives and in that very fullness comes a need to let go. In coming into adulthood in our lives, an awareness of mortality begins. Our lives, at their very peak, are heading towards death.
It is this perspective that prompts an evaluation by the heart of what we have, what we can offer, what we want, and what we don’t need any more.” -Holly Hamilton
Below you will find the handout for the month, along with guided instructions for flame bending, which is a powerful way to connect with fire and tangible will. I have also included the herb and recipe here.

Take a journey into the energy of Litha.
The veils are thin, and the land in Avalon celebrates the giving way of solar energy to the dark half of the year. To prepare for this 20-minute meditation, sit or lie comfortably near your altar or in a private space outside. Bring a candle if possible, and have your pen and journal ready to record insights after.
You can find the specific moon sign for the new and full moon this month over on the moon audio page. Check your monthly email for details on the date, time, and specific sign.
